In May 2025, Messer — the world's largest privately owned specialist for industrial, medical and specialty gases — partnered with Chengdu High-Tech Investment Group to hold a start ceremony for the bulk gas supply project of BOE's G8.6 AMOLED production line in Chengdu, Sichuan, China. The event marked the official start of Messer’s supply system, providing essential infrastructure to support the next phase of BOE’s high-end display manufacturing.

As the official gas supplier to BOE’s Chengdu site, Messer will invest approximately RMB 250 million in the first phase to build an advanced bulk gas system tailored to BOE’s production needs. This system will deliver ultra-high purity nitrogen, high-purity oxygen, hydrogen, and carbon dioxide — all critical gases required in AMOLED manufacturing. A second-phase expansion is planned as a long-term strategy.

This project marks the second successful partnership between Messer and BOE, following their earlier collaboration on BOE’s G6 AMOLED production line, also located in Chengdu.

To ensure world-class implementation, Messer and Chengdu High-Tech Investment Electronic Group established a joint venture in September 2024 — Chengdu Gaotou Messer Gas Products Co., Ltd. The JV will oversee the entire lifecycle of the gas system — from construction to operations and long-term management.

Representatives from BOE Chengdu, Chengdu High-Tech Investment, and Messer jointly attended the project start ceremony.
